Drumnahough Wind Farm is a proposed 12-turbine, circa 50MW onshore wind farm project being developed on a co-development basis between SSE Renewables and Coillte CGA in Co. Donegal.
Drumnahough Wind Farm previously secured consent for a 15-turbine site (DCC Planning Ref: 08/50687), which expired in March 2019. Due to grid availability issues at the time, the previously consented project was unable to be progressed.
SSE Renewables and Coillte CGA are now proposing to submit a new planning application for Drumnahough Wind Farm with a revised site layout. This application will include fewer turbines and an updated turbine envelope due to significant changes in the market environment and wind farm technology over the last decade.
The proposed Drumnahough Wind Farm is located in the rural upland setting of central Donegal, approximately 13km southwest of Letterkenny. The proposed site is located within the townlands of Cark, Meenadaura, Carrickalangan, Treankeel, Tooslenagh, Breenagh and Tullyhonour Breenagh. The site is located in the electoral divisions of Meencargagh and Lettermore, and the electoral area of Milford, Co. Donegal.
