At SSE, we're proud to make a difference. Our job is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. We're involved in producing, distributing and supplying electricity and gas, as well as other energy-related services.
Since 2008, SSE has invested over €2.5 billion in the development of Ireland’s sustainable energy infrastructure, helping to green our economy and secure our energy future.
We own and operates over 2,000MW of generation capacity on the island of Ireland, with 740MW coming from our 29 onshore wind farms. This makes SSE the largest generator of renewable energy in the all-island Single Electricity Market.
Our retail arm in Ireland and Northern Ireland, SSE Airtricity, is the second largest energy supplier on the island, providing greener electricity, natural gas and essential services to home and business customers.
Through SSE Airtricity Utility Solutions, we are also Ireland’s leading public lighting contractor, maintaining around 250,000 street lights.
SSE Airtricity is the second largest energy provider on the island of Ireland, supplying greener electricity, natural gas and other energy-related services to around 800,000 homes and businesses.
Our street lighting business, SSE Airtricity Utility Solutions, maintains over 250,000 street lights for 25 local authorities in the Republic of Ireland, while SSE Airtricity Energy Services provides home energy services to domestic customers, including boiler services, repairs and upgrades.
SSE is Ireland’s largest provider of wind power and third largest energy generator by capacity in the All-Island Single Electricity Market, with over 1,800MW in operation.
We generate over 550MW of renewable energy at our 25 onshore wind farms, and 1,292MW at our four thermal generating plants, helping to maintain security of supply in the market by being available to respond to peaks in demand.
