Martin O'Neill announces Ireland squad at SSE Airtricity HQ

Republic of Ireland football manager, Martin O’Neill, today visited SSE Airtricity’s headquarters in Dublin to announce his provisional squad for next month’s crunch fixtures against England and Scotland.

The 33-man panel includes three uncapped players in Brentford’s Alan Judge, Aberdeen’s Adam Rooney and Bournemouth’s Harry Arter. The squad’s most notable absentee is Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, who was tipped by many to be included, but is yet to make a final decision about his international future.

Following the announcement, O’Neill told attending media: “We have some very big games coming up. I have named a provisional squad today, which I will shorten before we meet up on 1 June. I am looking forward to meeting up and getting to work with the players.”

As the title sponsor of the SSE Airtricity League and the official energy partner of the FAI, SSE Airtricity is a proud supporter of Irish football.

SSE Airtricity Managing Director, Stephen Wheeler, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Martin O’Neill to SSE Airtricity today to announce his squad for these upcoming games. There was a great deal of excitement around the office today, particularly from the many passionate football fans amongst our staff. As a company, we’re a strong supporter of Irish football, so we were very proud to host an event of such important national and international footballing interest.”

Ireland will play England in what’s sure to be a feisty friendly in Dublin on Sunday 7 June, before welcoming Scotland to the Aviva Stadium for a crucial Euro 2016 qualifier six days later. In advance of the two games, the Boys in Green will take on Northern Ireland in a training match behind closed doors on Thursday 4 June.
