In 2016, SSE was the first large corporate business in the Republic of Ireland to become a Living Wage employer. The Living Wage is designed to make possible a minimum acceptable standard of living. Although not mandatory,as part of its commitment to being a responsible employer, SSE believes guaranteeing its employees at least a Living Wage is the right thing to do.

SSE has been a proud Living Wage accredited employer in Northern Ireland since 2013, meaning our employees – and increasingly our contractors – earn an hourly rate that exceeds the UK living wage.
