Our 34.5MW Tievenameenta Wind Farm in Killeter, Co. Tyrone, is capable of powering up to 30,000* homes with renewable energy.
Tievenameenta entered full operation in February 2017, just 12 months after construction began on the project.
From 2018, SSE will open its Community Fund programme for Tievenameenta Wind Farm. The fund will be split between a Community Fund, which will make contributions to local groups and projects, and a Regional Fund, which will provide funding for local students towards their educational costs.
*Homes powered calculations based on typical annual consumptions in All-Island Single Electricity Market (as of 1 March 2017) and one-year average recorded capacity factor of SSE wind farms operating on the island, April 2015 - March 2016. Historic figures quoted are for guideline purposes only – actual future performance may vary.
COMMUNITY OPEN DAY - 19 AUGUST 2017
SSE is delighted to be hosting a Community Open Day to celebrate the opening of our Tievenameenta Wind Farm in Co. Tyrone.
We’re inviting local community members to join us at Aghyaran St. Davog’s GAC from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday 19 August, for lots of free, fun, family activities, as well as tours of the new wind farm!
We’ll have a delicious BBQ on the go, as well as a bouncy castle and wind turbine arts and crafts for our younger guests. Free shuttle buses will bring you on a 10-minute trip up to the wind farm, where you can learn all about the amazing power of wind energy.
There’s no need to book in advance - just arrive on the day, and don’t forget to wear sensible footwear and prepare for all weathers conditions.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
