- SSE joins Omagh Chamber and Ulster Herald to celebrate local business excellence -
SSE, Northern Ireland's second largest energy utility and leading renewable energy developer, has been announced as the principal sponsor of the Omagh Business Awards 2017.
This is the third year that the company has sponsored the awards, which are organised by Omagh Chamber of Commerce and the Ulster Herald. This year’s awards will be presented on Friday 19 May at the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh.
The Omagh Business Awards are designed to celebrate local business dedication, commitment and success and in particular to showcase those businesses and business leaders who show initiative, business acumen and a great determination to grow the local economy. As well as being principal awards sponsor, SSE is also sponsoring the prestigious Business Person of the Year Award.
Businesses wishing to enter can do so by visiting UlsterHerald.com and entering online. Entries close Friday 3 March.
Speaking at the launch of the awards, SSE’s Michelle Donnelly said:
“We are delighted to once again sponsor the Omagh Business Awards. Recognising the success of local businesses who are the backbone of the local economy here is extremely important and we are expecting, once again, a high standard of entry across all the categories.
“We are particularly excited to sponsor the prestigious Business Person of the Year Award, which recognises someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the local economy. SSE has had the privilege of working with many businesses from Omagh and across Tyrone on the delivery of our renewable energy developments as well as the operation of our wind farms, and we know the extremely high standard of professionalism they bring to any project. We are looking forward to the awards ceremony and the opportunity to celebrate another great year for business in and around Omagh.”
Nicholas O’Shiel, President of Omagh Chamber of Commerce, commented:
“The Omagh Business Awards are about celebrating the success of local businesses and employers, recognising their hard work and paying tribute to their many achievements. Omagh has much to be proud of and these Awards recognise not just the companies that contribute to the vibrancy of the District, but the talented and brilliant people employed within them across a range of business sectors. I would like to take this opportunity to thank SSE for their principal sponsorship and all of our category sponsors who have made the awards possible.”
