SSE Airtricity seals second Power Purchase Agreement with NTR
SSE Airtricity, Northern Ireland’s largest wind power provider, has today announced that it has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTR for the 18MW Altaveedan Wind Farm in Co. Antrim, which is due to go into operation in spring 2017.
SSE Airtricity will have the offtake of the renewable energy generated at Altaveedan for a period of 15 years covering existing Single Electricity Market (SEM) arrangements as well as new market design arrangements under the Integrated Single Electricity Market (I-SEM), which are set to come into operation by the end of 2017.
The agreement follows the announcement today from NTR that it has successfully secured a £27.3 million (c. €30m) project finance debt facility with Ulster Bank Ireland DAC for the construction of Altaveedan wind farm.
This is the second such PPA that SSE Airtricity has signed with NTR, following a similar agreement entered into earlier this year for the offtake of energy from the 15MW Ora More wind farm in Co. Fermanagh. That project is due to come on stream by the end of this year.
The Altaveedan wind project will deploy nine Enercon 2MW turbines and will generate enough electricity to power approximately 15,000 homes with clean energy.
