SSE Airtricity is proud to make a difference in Northern Ireland this Christmas

SSE Airtricity is proud to be donating £50,000 this Christmas to The Salvation Army and Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) for their joint Family Appeal, which brings festive cheer to thousands of children and families in need across Northern Ireland.

The donation is part of SSE Airtricity’s ongoing community funding programme, which is designed to make a positive and sustainable difference to charitable and community initiatives.

The Family Appeal is the largest Christmas present appeal in Northern Ireland and has been in operation for the past 36 years. Last year's appeal distributed over 30,000 gifts to children across the region.

SSE Airtricity Gas NI General Manager, Andrew Greer, visited the SVP headquarters in Belfast to see what the funds will be used for. He said:

“SSE is dedicated to supporting the local communities in which we operate. This year we are pleased to support two charities who have come together to launch their annual joint Family Appeal which provides Christmas cheer for families who face difficulties at this special time.

“Our presence and growth in Northern Ireland means we are able to make a real difference to communities and families right across the region. We hope our donations will go some way to ensuring that as many people as possible, who find themselves in difficult situations, can enjoy the holidays.”

Ray Brady, Regional Treasurer at SVP, commented:

“I am delighted to accept this donation on behalf of SVP. These funds will go towards helping many people across Northern Ireland at Christmas and into the new year when many financial problems can often appear.”

Imogen Stewart, Director of Evangelism for The Salvation Army UK and Ireland, added:

“It is a privilege to know that we are helping families who need a little extra help at this time. We couldn’t do it without the help of SVP and generous donations such as this.”
